Chicago House-events deze maand in Rotterdam

Chicago house emerged in the early 1980s as a stripped-back, electronic evolution of disco, pioneered by DJs like Frankie Knuckles at The Warehouse. Characterized by a relentless four-on-the-floor kick drum generated by Roland TR-808 and TR-909 machines, the genre features syncopated hi-hats, repetitive basslines, and often soulful vocal samples or piano stabs. It typically maintains a steady tempo between 120 and 130 BPM, fostering a hypnotic and euphoric mood designed for communal dancefloor experiences. As the foundational blueprint for modern electronic dance music, it bridges the gap between the organic arrangements of classic funk and the synthetic precision of later techno and acid house.
