Shatta-events deze maand in Rotterdam

Shatta is a contemporary electronic music genre that emerged from the French Antilles, particularly Martinique, during the early 2010s as a minimalist and aggressive evolution of Dancehall. Characterized by heavy digital sub-bass, sparse synth textures, and repetitive, syncopated percussive loops, it typically maintains a mid-tempo pace between 95 and 110 BPM. The genre conveys a raw, high-energy atmosphere designed for club environments, often featuring assertive vocal deliveries and provocative lyrics that bridge the gap between traditional Caribbean rhythms and modern Trap production. It serves as a distinct cultural derivative of Bouyon and Jamaican Dancehall, gaining significant international traction within the global urban music scene.
