Sufi-events deze week in Rotterdam

Sufi music is a devotional genre originating from the mystical traditions of Islam, primarily flourishing across South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. It emphasizes spiritual union with the Divine through repetitive rhythmic patterns and poetic lyrics, often utilizing instruments such as the ney, tabla, harmonium, and oud. The tempo typically transitions from meditative, slow introductions to high-energy, ecstatic crescendos designed to induce a trance-like state known as wajd. While rooted in ancient spiritual practices like dhikr and qawwali, the genre maintains a profound semantic relationship with folk and classical traditions, bridging the gap between sacred ritual and contemporary world music performance.
