Video Game Music-events in Rotterdam

Video game music, often abbreviated as VGM, originated in the late 1970s through early arcade synthesis and has evolved from primitive chiptune bleeps into expansive, multi-genre orchestral scores. Characterized by its functional utility, it employs looping structures and adaptive dynamics to mirror player interactions, utilizing a vast array of digital FM synthesis, MIDI sequencing, and live instrumentation. The genre spans a broad spectrum of moods, from the high-energy urgency of combat themes to the immersive ambience of exploration tracks. Semantically, it bridges the gap between electronic production and cinematic film scoring, maintaining a distinct identity defined by its interactive context and nostalgic cultural impact.
