French Garage Rock-events deze maand in San Francisco

French garage rock originated during the mid-1960s yé-yé era, later undergoing significant revivals in the late 20th and early 21st centuries within vibrant scenes like Paris and Bordeaux. The genre is characterized by a raw, lo-fi aesthetic featuring distorted electric guitars, driving drum patterns, and often vintage Farfisa organs or fuzzy bass lines. Musically, it maintains a high-energy, rebellious mood, often blending Anglophone rock influences with distinct Gallic vocal delivery and lyrical cynicism. It serves as a gritty, DIY counter-response to more polished pop productions, maintaining a semantic link between 1960s beat music, proto-punk, and contemporary indie-rock scenes across France.
