Kizomba-events deze maand in San Francisco

Emerging from Angola in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Kizomba is a genre characterized by its romantic, sensual mood and a distinctive slow-to-mid-tempo 4/4 rhythm derived from Caribbean Zouk and traditional Angolan Semba. The instrumentation typically blends electronic elements like synthesizers and drum machines with deep basslines and soft percussion to create a smooth, intimate atmosphere designed for close-contact partner dancing. Its rhythmic structure features a strong emphasis on the ground beat, distinguishing it from more uptempo Lusophone styles while maintaining a melodic focus on Portuguese or Kimbundu lyrics. This genre serves as a primary evolution of Semba, eventually influencing modern urban derivatives like Ghetto Zouk and Tarraxinha.
