Nueva Trova-events deze maand in San Francisco

Nueva Trova is a socio-political musical movement that emerged in post-revolutionary Cuba during the late 1960s, blending traditional Cuban folk elements with poetic, socially conscious lyricism. Characterized by its reliance on the acoustic guitar and expressive vocal delivery, the genre often incorporates sophisticated harmonic structures influenced by jazz and classical music. It maintains a contemplative yet resilient mood, reflecting the ideological shifts and personal experiences of iconic artists such as Silvio Rodríguez and Pablo Milanés. Semantically rooted in the traditional Trova heritage, it shares a profound thematic and stylistic kinship with the broader Latin American Nueva Canción movement while remaining distinctly Cuban in its rhythmic undercurrents.
