Psychedelic Doom-events in San Francisco

Psychedelic doom is a subgenre of heavy metal that emerged in the late 1990s, fusing the crushing weight of traditional doom metal with the expansive, effects-laden textures of psychedelic rock. Characterized by down-tuned, fuzz-drenched guitars and a glacial tempo, the music often employs hypnotic repetition and sprawling instrumental passages to create a sense of cosmic dread or transcendental immersion. Instrumentation typically centers on traditional power trios or quartets, frequently supplemented by vintage synthesizers or heavy reverberation to enhance its otherworldly atmosphere. This genre maintains a close semantic relationship with stoner metal and space rock, prioritizing a heavy, meditative mood over traditional song structures or fast-paced technicality.
