The genre is defined by intricate, interlocking electric guitar patterns known as the sebene, complemented by driving basslines, synthesizers, and the rhythmic chants of an animateur who directs the dance floor. Its tempo is typically brisk, featuring syncopated 4/4 rhythms that prioritize physical movement and celebratory expression over melodic complexity.
