Classical-events dit weekend in Timișoara

Classical music refers to the broad tradition of Western liturgical and secular music spanning from the medieval period to the contemporary era, though it is most defined by the Common Practice Period. Typically characterized by its reliance on staff notation and formal structures like the symphony or concerto, it utilizes a sophisticated palette of orchestral instruments including strings, woodwinds, and brass. The genre features highly varied tempos—from the slow solemnity of adagio to the rapid energy of presto—and evokes an emotional spectrum from profound melancholy to triumphant euphoria. As a foundational pillar of musicology, it maintains a distinct relationship with modern film scores while remaining separate from folk and popular music traditions.
