Boom Bap-events deze maand in Zurich

Boom bap emerged during the golden age of East Coast hip hop in the late 1980s and early 1990s as a production style defined by its hard-hitting rhythmic structure. Characterized by a heavy kick drum and a sharp, cracking snare, the genre typically utilizes hardware samplers like the Akai MPC to loop jazz and soul vinyl records. This aesthetic prioritizes a gritty, unquantized swing that maintains a moderate tempo, often reflecting the raw urban environments from which it originated. While fundamentally a sub-genre of hip hop, its emphasis on sonic texture and repetitive grooves distinguishes it from more melodic or electronic-leaning contemporary rap styles.
