Comic Metal-concerten en liveshows in Zurich

Comic metal, often referred to as comedy metal, is a subgenre of heavy metal that emerged in the late 1980s, blending aggressive musical structures with satirical, humorous, or parodic lyrical content. Utilizing standard heavy metal instrumentation—distorted electric guitars, double-bass drumming, and varied vocal styles ranging from operatic to guttural—it often incorporates sound effects or exaggerated performance tropes to highlight its comedic nature. The genre frequently mimics the rhythmic intensity and fast tempos of thrash or power metal while maintaining an irreverent, lighthearted, or absurdist mood. Historically related to novelty rock and theatrical metal, it serves as a self-aware commentary on the broader metal culture, juxtaposing intense sonic energy with playful, often transgressive wit.
