Cubaton-events in Zurich

Cubaton, also known as Cuban reggaeton, emerged in the late 1990s as a vibrant fusion of Puerto Rican reggaeton rhythms and traditional Cuban musicality. It is characterized by the iconic dembow drum pattern blended with organic elements such as salsa-inspired horn sections, syncopated conga patterns, and montuno piano riffs. The genre typically maintains a moderate to fast tempo between 90 and 110 BPM, delivering a high-energy, festive, and occasionally aggressive mood that reflects urban Cuban street culture. Semantically, it functions as a localized evolution of urban music, bridging the gap between Caribbean dancehall, hip-hop, and ancestral Afro-Cuban sounds like timba and son.
