Ectofolk-concerten en liveshows in Zurich

Emerging in the late 1980s and early 1990s from fan-driven communities like the Ecto mailing list, ectofolk is characterized by its ethereal, female-led singer-songwriter compositions. The genre utilizes a blend of acoustic instrumentation, such as piano and guitar, layered with atmospheric synthesizers and intricate, often multi-tracked vocal harmonies that create a sense of otherworldly depth. Tempos are typically moderate to slow, focusing on fluid rhythms and introspective moods that evoke a sense of mystery or intellectual melancholy. Semantically positioned between contemporary folk and dream pop, it shares the lyrical intimacy of singer-songwriter traditions with the lush, reverb-heavy textures found in darkwave and chamber pop.
