Gangster Rap-events in Zurich

Gangster rap, a subgenre of hip hop, emerged in the late 1980s as an evolution of hardcore hip hop, originating primarily from the urban landscapes of the United States. Characterized by gritty, confrontational lyrical themes regarding inner-city life, the genre typically utilizes Roland TR-808 drum machines, synthesized basslines, and dark, cinematic samples. The rhythm is generally mid-tempo with a strong 4/4 time signature and syncopated, aggressive vocal delivery. While sharing a semantic relationship with G-funk, its focus on street-level narratives distinguishes it as a pivotal movement that achieved massive commercial success and influenced the broader landscape of modern pop and trap music.
