Indonesian Folk-events deze maand in Zurich

Indonesian folk music, frequently categorized as Musik Rakyat, represents the vast array of traditional sounds originating from the diverse ethnic groups across the Indonesian archipelago, including Javanese, Balinese, and Sundanese cultures. Typical instrumentation relies heavily on organic sources, featuring gongs, metallophones from gamelan ensembles, bamboo suling flutes, and the kecapi zither. The genre is characterized by intricate cyclic rhythms and a communal, spiritual mood that facilitates storytelling or ritualistic ceremonies. As a foundational pillar of Indonesian culture, it shares a semantic relationship with Southeast Asian traditional music while acting as a vital precursor to the fusion-heavy rhythms of modern Dangdut.
