New Age-events in Zurich

Emerging in the late 1960s and peaking in the 1980s, New Age music is a versatile genre rooted in electronic synthesis, minimalism, and acoustic folk. It typically features a lush blend of synthesizers, piano, acoustic guitar, and flutes, often incorporating environmental field recordings to enhance its atmospheric depth and spaciousness. The rhythm is generally slow or free-form, prioritizing a gentle tranquility over driving beats to facilitate meditation, while remaining semantically distinct from ambient music due to its reliance on traditional melody. Serving as a functional, soothing background for holistic practices, this genre remains a bridge between classical structures and modern electronic soundscapes.
