New Rave-events dit weekend in Zurich

Emerging from the London indie scene in the mid-2000s, new rave represents a vibrant fusion of dance-punk, indie rock, and 1990s rave culture. The genre is characterized by the integration of traditional rock instrumentation, such as guitars and drums, with abrasive synthesizers, heavy distortion, and multiple electronic effects. Its rhythmic structure typically favors upbeat, danceable tempos that encourage high-energy physical movement, often intentionally mirroring the frenetic energy of legendary illegal warehouse parties. Semantically, it bridges the gap between alternative rock and electronic dance music, characterized by a hedonistic, neon-aesthetic mood, bright polished production, and a distinctively kitsch, DIY visual identity that defines its cultural impact.
