V Pop-events deze week in Zurich

V-pop, or Vietnamese pop, emerged in its modern form during the late 1990s following the Doi Moi economic reforms, evolving from earlier genres like Nhac tre and traditional folk influences. The genre relies on a sophisticated mix of Western-style synthesizers, electronic drums, and traditional Vietnamese instruments such as the dan bau, often producing a polished, radio-friendly sound. Rhythms vary from slow-tempo, sentimental ballads to high-energy dance-pop influenced by K-pop and Mandopop, maintaining a characteristic focus on the tonal beauty of the Vietnamese language. Primarily defined by its mainstream appeal and romantic themes, V-pop serves as a vital bridge between traditional Vietnamese musical heritage and contemporary global pop trends.
