A lot more foot than I was expecting but unsurprisingly found a way to my heart. Nonstop bars and a really stunning use of sunrises and sunsets in here. Am fairly certain it’ll be one that I come to love more with time

Can only describe this as providing a sort of serenity over the course of the long runtime, the depth of humanity on display here and the way it’s achieved is really something only Hamaguchi could do. It pauses to explain capitalism on a whiteboard for like 20 minutes and has so much foot rubbing in it, people are speaking French and Japanese and English and Italian, all aching attempts to reach through the bullshit and find clarity in connecting with your fellow man. Made me want to be a better, more present person. But seriously there’s a lot of foot rubbing.
Hamaguchi always finds a way to generate an unexpected moment of ecstasy. Takes longer than usual here, but it does arrive and hit me in the chest.
