Action! of God and Man: Tarkovsky, The Poetry of the SpiritA really interesting visual essay where Tarkovsky expresses his thoughts on different matters ranging from obviously the spirituality in life and art (really loved that part where he equals art with a prayer), art itself and the significance of plays like Hamlet (which he calls one of the most important plays whose themes were relevant before, during, and after its release), and other personal subject matter. At the same time, the featurette works as a bts featurette where we get to learn different facts about pretty much his movies and his life and how this influences his work. As to be expected, the cinematography and footage used in his movies match perfectly with his words, sometimes adding layers and meaning to them. If you had to watch only one Tarkovsky documentary, this is it. One can only dream of having a son who's able to make such a poetic tribute.

Indescribably powerful. To hear the master in his own words; his life, his work, his family, his personal philosophy on everything from art to what it means to be alive. A most cherished experience and one that I’ll never forget. How often do you get the opportunity to peer so intimately into an artist’s life you admire and revere to such an extent? Not very. I relished in every second of this documentary. Thank you, Andrey A., for sharing this beautiful portrait of your father and one of the most legendary filmmakers to ever live.
