Probably the goriest of all the Italian cannibal movies, or on a par with Eaten Alive!, but this is much more fun.I love Severin for putting out a double Blu-ray with both cuts of the film, but Dr Butcher MD is basically the same as Zombie Holocaust, and although the music is funnier and there's some extra horror early doors, that's cancelled out by the fact that it doesn't feature my wife walking past the TV as the title "Zombie Holocaust" appears in massive letters and she mutters "for fuck's sake", which is how this movie is really meant to be seen.

Neither the best Italian zombie movie, nor the best Italian cannibal movie, but Marino Girolami's Zombi Holocaust is still worthy of your time. The zombie makeup isn't particularly done well, but the gore effects are pretty spectacular considering the budget. The movie's unintentional comedic moments (that amazing dummy fall) and Alexandra Delli Colli's extensive nude scenes give this an extra edge.I had a blast watching this with Michelle.

I’m really surprised this one doesn’t have a higher rating because it’s one of my favorites of its kind! There are two cuts of this movie and while I think I prefer this one, I definitely prefer the alternate cut title: Doctor Butcher, MD. That just screams 42nd St grindhouse trash cinema and honestly it’s beautiful.There’s a ton of gore, Ian McCulloch gnawing the shit out of all the scenery, and Alexandra Delli Colli prancing around naked in the jungle for those of you that are into that. Sure, this movie is racist as hell but you have to deal with if you’re going to enjoy any of these movies. Besides, like a lot of these movies, white people are depicted as the true enemy and that’s pretty damn accurate.
