As a massive Lawrence of Arabia fan, I was extremely disappointed by this. I genuinely don’t understand what is driving the plot forward. I have no interest in the characters, or where they end up. There’s some pretty shots in it but overall, extremely boring. It took me a couple days to get through. If this review is boring, I’m sorry but at least it’s not as long as Dr. Zhivago.
The film follows the life of a Russian physician and poet whose personal life and love for a political activist's wife are upended by the cataclysmic events of World War I and the Russian Revolution.
It was directed by the British filmmaker David Lean in 1965, who is known for his large-scale historical productions and previous work on Lawrence of Arabia.
The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score for Maurice Jarre's musical work. Full awards list on Mood.
