a welsh language film loosely based on a greek tragedy about a self-sacrificial heroine. life for effi is as jagged and brutal as the slate landscape that surrounds her. the film paints a bleak portrait of life in north wales, but at the same time there's a certain celtic warmth running through it. this one had been on my radar for a while, had to take a little trip to the cinema to support a rare welsh film 🏴
