昆虫大戦争
Een rauwe horrorfilm.
A group of military personnel transporting a hydrogen bomb are left to figure out how and why swarms of killer bugs took down their plane; the answer is more deliriously nihilistic, and convoluted, than they could imagine.

plot enough for two movies in this 83-minute cheapie about megalomaniacal sentient hallucinogenic bees bred by an insane holocaust survivor.
1st Kazui NihonmatsuA thoroughly strange goose (or is that insect?) that feels like the Arthur Machen story "The Terror" given an injection of growth hormone. Thoroughly nihilistic in a manner even I wasn't prepared for, both for interpersonal relationships and the wider fate of humanity. Godzilla has a wisp of hope at human resilience in the face of atomic weapons, this has absolutely nothing at all. As many people have noted here, there's such a remarkable amount of plot stuffed into eighty-four minutes, from an insect invasion of mankind to a missing H-Bomb to the trauma of wars past, including, shockingly, a villainess who was a prisoner at Auschwitz. The sequence where she reveals her tattoo on her breast and explains her backstory is truly jaw-dropping; nowhere before have I seen such a motivation and for such a purpose, not to mention the placing of the camp marks. It's breathtaking, and I don't think in the right way.Intercut with this remarkable cruelty is some gorgeous filmmaking on a budget. The effects, especially for the sequence where our hero is indoctrinated into the insect hive mind, are beautiful in a strange and cheap manner, as is the opening credits comprised of closeups of various insects, including some beautiful shimmering butterflies. The closest cinematic parallel I can find is Kiss Me Deadly, for both have a delirious sense of the pulpy apocalypse that is weirdly entertaining for its brutal unsentimentality. Yes, it's an exhausting experience, one where narrative fatigue sets in at about the 35 minute part. But stay tuned for the end, because it's a doozy.
