Not the most subtle of films but it does a wonderful job of building a tense, claustrophobic atmosphere. It unfolds not on the pitch but in the dark tunnels beneath the Heysel stadium, with the sounds of the increasingly agitated Liverpool and Juventus fans booming loudly from above as the tragedy progresses. It's a really grim story and Heysel 85 highlights the government failures which caused and exacerbated the events while interrogating the ensuing moral dilemmas. The characters feel a little controved though - considering this already features real footage from the time, maybe it should've just been a documentary.
