Mystical sci-fi nonsense that stars a detective with the hair and earrings of a mom from the late 80s, Noomi Rapace, and giant blood eating grubs. At least it looks good and have some good songs on the soundtrack.
Man I really wanted to like this. At its best it's a throwback to kooky vintage arthouse cyberpunk stuff like KAMIKAZE '89 or HARDWARE or WILD PALMS. Looks great, lots of goofy costumes and brutalist architecture, and there's the occasional dose of mordant humor. But the story is frankly just dull, and Smoczyńska keeps things too formally placid, and after a while I just checked out.
In a future ruled by artificial intelligence, a private investigator probes a murder and stumbles upon a group planning to topple the digital regime.
