I was quite a bit turned off beforehand as I've seen a couple of Gibney's works and didn't particularly like his style. do you really want to sit through 4 hours of the portrait of the - given his power - currently most terrible man on our planet? let me tell you: Yes, you want!turns out Alex Gibney's tabloid-sleazy yellow paper shenanigans are just what the doctor ordered for the total madness coming along with every Incel dream's tech bro warrior, what he represents & how he embodies the hegemonic ideology. it's a non stop "bam bam" laser pointer attack that gets you a neatly packaged bouquet of the many aspects the man's monstrosity is shaped of. if you're familiar with his game (hence, if you follow the news) you'll see many facts you'll have heard before, giving you maybe the possibility to dive deeper into, but surely not revealing anything breathtakingly new. and why should Gibney? it's all there on the open anyway. Musk has most of his stuff put out there, not caring, or simply not being able to control the narrative anymore (the love life, relationships, "legion" of his kids getting ready for the civil war etc). I mean even his severe drug abuse is well documented by now. I personally would have loved a proper psychoanalysis of this guy. something - this is my strong personal believe - that could help understand better the current mayhem we're facing. but of course no one dares this nowadays (be it legally or "ethically"... big lol), so we're stuck with the obvious histrionics that are openly visible on the surface. and honestly, this should be enough for anyone to make their conclusions in what a hilarious mess we're stuck in right now. This film is the absolute epitome of the phenomenon of doomscrolling. I had a scary fucking blast./// Venezia 83 ///
