Score : 6.6/10 ✅Trauma and isolation happily shaking hands. Outpost is perhaps the film in 2023 that has subverted all my expectations in the sneakiest way, simply because the first hour is voluntarily generic and familiar. Thanks to that cause I was absolutely not ready for the last 30 minutes. This is far from being an extraordinary thriller or even a horror flick but Beth Dover elevates the material with a strong performance. There’s a lot of conviction in the character about trusting (or not) male characters, the level of suspicion is high enough to make the audience doubt too. Even if it’s part of Outpost’s DNA, I’d say the movie had too many flashback sequences and close up of larvae. Slightly repetitive and tiresome. The good outweighs the bad and I feel Outpost was worth my time.
