Fantasy FilmFest 2026The Royal King opening is fantastic!Hilariously funny!But what has this to do with an intern that starts at an Emergency Room?So this film likes to works with the stress element (The Pitt, The Bear…)Marion Le Corroller enters the French wave of female body horror. David Cronenberg would like this. Mara Taquin exposes her body to the fullest at big portions of the film. This includes also some icky body horror experiments. It is interesting and has an intensity, the score puts it sometimes into a trance. I was enamored at least for half of the film. It falls a bit into a loop before it continues with the final stage. Even when it gets straight brutal for this stage, somehow it run out of steam. It runs simply over of the things it wanted to build up. There was an interesting idea behind all of this but the film shreds down everything instead of working it out. It’s a good debut but it looses a bit the way of its story on its final course.
