I've never seen a movie that strikes the tone this one does, an intersection between scary, funny, sexy, completely heartfelt, and totally disreputable. Lon Chaney's tearful late film monologue should be legendary if it isn't already. Same goes for Sid Haig's completely unhinged performance.

A gothic horror comedy pitched darkest black, touching on incest, cannibalism, and downright lust and savagery. a true inspiration for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre in all of its familial loyalty vibes. I absolutely LOVED everything this was. The cobweb covered mansion, its demented exploitation charm, the eerie atmosphere, and that image of Virginia eating that spider. 🕷
