Man it was a good one but could've been more better easily. Movie's first half sets up the plot conflict character in a really great, the direction, the nuances. Everything was pretty good but actually starts falling down right when Simi Chahal's is getting married. I mean the song was unexpected and unnecessary as always which tries to show some bond between Mandy Takhar and her husband which wasn't needed at all as his Husband really don't have anything to do in plot. Movie still does pretty good with the jokes and that trying hard thing. There are few more unnecessary songs but it's ok ig. The Maid angle is what triggers me about this I mean how uneeded it becomes the way they utilize it. Eavesdropping and then blackmailing sets up how Maid's probably gonna be someone who would reveals the secret but she just go away like that. I mean yeah you're showing how Simi chahal's character is trying her hardest to not let her secret get revealed but it could've been shown less if her character wasn't needed at all in the end. That same screen time could've used to make the ending better which I'll talk about later in this review. The husband of Simi chahal. One of the worst actor I've seen. The security guy was so good for this role but idk why they didnt gave him. Movie shows him getting upset upon hearing and that's it, he's upset, he'll turn his face away once in a while to express disappointment and that's it. Movie rushes the ending monologue by jumping straight to "Bharat desh ek azaad mulk aa" like that statement wasn't wrong but that was too soon. It doesn't make you feel anything because there's no buildup for that. She should've told her personal struggle first before going to that. They gave no time for mother in law's character development bruh 😭. I mean there's a person who wants her bahu to know English, gets one, is happy that she got that ideal bahu tho how fckdd up that demand is but still, gets to know after a pretty good time that she doesnt know English that too on her Birthday. Anyone would be pissed off man. No one just changes in ine night when they are lied for so long, that too with that monologue. They should've focused on "her being upset" period instead of that maid thing. Fcked up the ending but still pretty good tho.

The first birthday dinner scene was really well-done. I liked how it established the motivations for the status-chasing game that the rest of the movie centered around. All the mishaps around Gagan's misuses of English were pretty funny. The one about halwa and lizards got me.Other than that, there were some things I didn't really like. For example, the misunderstanding between the headmaster and the school security guard (I forget their names unfortunately) was a little contrived. Yes, we know that the headmaster is very adamant about her school being a strictly English-speaking school, to the extent that one of the first scenes involves her not letting admission to a pupil whose parents don't speak any English. But if this is the case, then why would she hire the guard if she KNEW he only spoke Punjabi? We know that, yes, she got the recommendation from family, but she already rejected the pupil despite his connection to her own family's social network. So this isn't really a good explanation.Vaguely speaking, there were a couple other times when the movie was a bit too blunt about the story's moral. Overall, though, I liked the movie.
