He played British intelligence agent Peter Nicholls in Ben Affleck's Oscar-winning 2012 political thriller Argo, and Merv Humphreys, husband of Margaret Humphreys (played by Emily Watson) in Jim Loach's fact-based movie Oranges and Sunshine.
