Romain Labaye
An underground jazz fusion artist.
Born into an artistic family, Romain Labaye started playing the drums by self teaching himself at the age of 2, and finally fell in love with the bass at the age of 14 after he heard Weather Report and especially Jaco Pastorius. In 2011, he moved to Paris to enter the famous Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris but he left after one year to go on his own. He spent most of his time in Paris' jam sessions, where he would meet and play with some of the great names of the Parisian Jazz Scene and eventually went on to play with artists such as Nguyên Lê , Céline Bonacina, Dean Brown, Nina Attal, Mario Canonge, Alain Debiossat (Sixun), Thierry Maillard, Tom Ibarra, Gergo Borlai... He is since 2016 a member of the Scott Henderson Trio and appears on the album People Mover. He’s also the bass player of Phonic Nomads, a band he co-founded with Archibald Ligonnière.
