Nnja Riot

Nnja Riot is the solo project of artist Lisa McKendrick born in New Zealand, based in London, with Mexican and Scottish heritage. Her music is a journey into the potential of musical instruments, electronic elements, gathered auditory fragments, and human vocal expression. Her live performances incorporate an amalgamation of samplers, sequencers, personally crafted and altered synthesisers. On the stage, her inclination is to probe the concept of art as a ritual, employing custom-made attire and artefacts. The sounds she gathers pay homage to the notion of understanding a place through its auditory identity and the spiritual resonance of revisited locales. Noteworthy are her collaborative creations: the Fort Processor and Chernobylizer, two experimental synths exploring horror noise and psychogeography.
