Chico Pinheiro
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, and currently based in New York City, Grammy-nominated guitarist Chico Pinheiro is today one of the major creative forces in contemporary Brazilian jazz, both as instrumentalist and composer. He started playing the guitar at age 6 and began to work professionally when he was 14. With highly acclaimed albums as leader as well as many awards earned as instrumentalist and composer, Chico has recorded and toured extensively with the Chico Pinheiro Quartet and has collaborated on special projects with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Placido Domingo, Danilo Perez, Kurt Elling, Brad Mehldau, Dianne Reeves, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, Ivan Lins, Rosa Passos, Joyce, Edu Lobo, Dori Caymmi, João Donato, Johnny Alf, The Israeli Chamber Orchestra, Chris Potter, César Camargo Mariano, Bob Mintzer, Esperanza Spalding, Ari Hoenig, Luciana Souza, Vince Mendoza, The Paris Jazz Big Band, The Swiss Jazz Orchestra, The Danish Radio Big Band, The Seasons Guitar Quartet, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Eddie Gomez, just to name a few.
