Born from London’s vibrant music scene, Steam Down is a British Afro-Punk band, weekly event, and creative community. Founded in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist Ahnansé , the collective has mastered an alchemy of sound, space, and energy, creating spontaneous sonic landscapes that reflect life in the city. More than just a band, Steam Down has become a vital force in London's music culture, earning two Jazz FM awards for Innovation and Live Experience of the Year. They’ve sold out legendary venues like Jazz Café and Village Underground, embarked on successful tours across the UK, EU, US, and South Africa, and performed at major festivals including Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, and SXSW. Their collaborative spirit has led to work with artists like Sampa the Great, Nubya Garcia and D Double E. Their music has found a global audience with breakthrough singles like "Free My Skin," which amassed over 3 million streams and was featured in the official Adidas 2020 FIFA World Cup campaign. Their follow-up single, Etcetera released through Blue Note, has over 2 million streams and appeared on the FIFA21 soundtrack. Following their successful EP, Five Fruit, the band recently released their debut album, I Realised It Was Me. The album is a powerful journey of self-discovery, moving from a chaotic world to a moment of personal revelation, and explores the struggle to break free from toxic cycles, ultimately finding the power to change within.
