Galaxians
A nostalgic post-disco artist.
Galaxians formed in 2011 when Matt Woodward and Jed Skinner joined forces to bring the energy of 80s dancefloor music into the modern age. Early EPs on New York’s Dither Down Records and Atlanta’s Rotating Souls were followed by three self-organised UK and European tours. Singer Emma Mason joined in 2016, driving the band’s debut album Let the Rhythm In (2017). The record drew national attention, with Clash Magazine calling it "a tour de force of exuberant club energy" and The Huffington Post calling it "dazzling". The single How Do U Feel? aired on BBC 6 Music and Radio 2, and a remix appeared on Future Disco’s Technicolour Nights. That year the band received funding through Help Musicians UK’s Do It Differently scheme. The self-released Chemical Reaction followed in 2020, stripping back the music and putting the vocals front and centre. Emma Mason left in 2023. The third album Feel In Motion, due in 2026, features full-time vocalist Beccy Young of CHAT alongside Sinead Campbell and reflects a mature sound shaped by Latin Freestyle, 80s pop and early 90s UK street soul. Galaxians have performed at Amsterdam Dance Event, Bluedot, Dimensions, Beat-Herder, Port Eliot and Tramlines, and supported ESG, Tom Tom Club, Dam-Funk and St Etienne.
