Asurmendi has a distinctive sensitivity.” - UK JAZZ NEWS Bea Asurmendi is a Basque-born, London-based vocalist and composer whose music blends contemporary jazz with the earthy textures of Basque and Iberian folk roots. Her debut album "Asteartea", sung in Basque, Spanish and English, weaves storytelling, rich harmonies and improvisation into an intimate yet expansive sound. Inspired by a women’s circle, it explores shared stories of womanhood through the lens of goddess mythology. Bea studied Popular Music Performance and earned a Master’s in Jazz Singing with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Next Level Award from Help Musicians UK. Her performances have taken her to top UK venues including Pizza Express Jazz Club, 606 Club, Soho Jazz Festival and the EFG London Jazz Festival for two consecutive years. In 2023, she opened for Ari Hoenig at Milton Court Concert Hall, returning in 2024 with a sold-out headline show. In Spain, she has shared the stage with Judit Neddermann and IDOIA, performing at iconic venues like Teatro Lara, La Sala Movistar Arena and Teatro Victoria Eugenia.
