Born and raised in Bergen, Lerche first came to fame as a teenager with the release of his critically acclaimed indie-pop debut, Faces Down, which Rolling Stone named one of the Best Albums of the Year. Over the course of the ensuing two decades (most of which were spent living in the US), Lerche would go on to release eight more similarly celebrated studio albums, perform on Letterman, Conan, and at NPR’s Tiny Desk, score multiple feature films, and tour with the likes of Stereolab, Air, Elvis Costello and St. Vincent, among others. While his recent albums have grown more ambitious and lyrically existential, Lerche has never lost his knack for superb chord-progressions and delightful hooks. According to the LA Times «his refrains always pay off.» Lerche is as comfortable performing alone with his guitar, as he is staging staggering performance-extravaganzas, such as his recent two-act career-retrospective at the Oslo Opera, where he was backed by a 52-person ensemble. The anticipated follow-up to Lerche's 2022 Norwegian Grammy-winning magnum opus, Avatars Of Love, will be released on August 21st, 2026. It will be called Acrobats and it will be grand. First single, Little Kids, is already here.
