Danny Tol and Wouter Swijgman met in Amsterdam in 2013 and have been making music together ever since. In 2023, they decided to form DECAY/REBIRTH, a daring two-piece project. Despite their small lineup, they unleash a wall of sound live—thanks in part to a variety of self-produced samples and backing tracks. They blend alternative rock with electronic influences, creating energetic yet mysterious music that others have described as "avant-garde." Danny sings and plays bass, guitar, and synthesizer; Wouter mixes acoustic drums with electronic sounds and samples. They also handle all the mixing and mastering of their recorded music themselves.
