Phil Odgers
Phil ‘Swill’ Odgers is well known as vocalist and acoustic guitarist with UK folk rebel rockers The Men They Couldn’t Hang. He is also a formidable, well-loved and prolific solo artist in his own right. Audiences around the world from Cairo to Reykjavik, Brisbane to Tokyo and Berlin to London have submitted to his effervescent and heartfelt vocal style in stadium, theatre, hall and after hours lock in. Phil, was born in Oban, Scotland to an Irish Mother and a Yorkshire Father and moved down to the south coast of England when he was just a kid. His writing style tells stories that cover all four corners of these lands. As singer and acoustic guitarist with his band ‘The Men They Couldn’t Hang’ he has appeared as special guest to Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Billy Bragg, David Bowie and Stiff Little Fingers to namedrop but a few. A fine musician and songwriter, his influences are far-reaching, ranging from his Scottish roots, through 50's/60's rock ‘n' roll, to punk, folk and country. Emmy Award winning writer David Quantick described his book (Tales From The Tracks) as "A riotous, folk rocking memoir of a man who still can't be hanged." Swill's new album ‘GHOSTS OF ROCK N ROLL’ will be repleased on Vinyl Star Records and distributed by Cargo Records August 27th 2021.
