Pietro Coquinati is an Italian artist and music producer hailing from Vicenza. His experimental electronic sound is informed by his years connecting with various musical cultures and artists from around the world. One of his greatest influences is Korea, where he encountered the K-Pop sounds of Gangnam and the underground movement of Itaewon. This duality of sounds is expressed in his various collaborative projects working with both underground and pop artists. Pietro is also a video creator, with works focused on capturing the poorer areas of Asian big cities; neighborhoods which are slowly disappearing, swallowed by time and rapid development. Through these dystopian and unique video works he aims to leave a memory for future generations and introduce viewers to hidden and disappearing aspects of Asian culture. Coquinati’s music and videos are often paired with one another in order to bring his artistic vision to full effect and transport the viewer into his futuristic yet nostalgic world.
