Judd Greenstein is "one of the bright lights among young composers” (WNYC), an artist whose music critics have said “felt like an epiphany” (New York Times) and were "tempted to call a masterpiece.” (Boston Globe). A passionate advocate for the independent global new music community, Judd’s philosophy as both composer and curator involves the creation and promotion of music that is open to all influences. Standout groups that reflect this sensibility, including yMusic and Roomful of Teeth, counted Judd among their earliest commissions. He has since received commissions from major institutions such as the Minnesota Orchestra, the Knights, Carnegie Hall, and the Lucerne Festival, as well as dance commissions from Isabella Boylston and Troy Schumacher. Judd is a founding member of NOW Ensemble, the co-Artistic Director of New Amsterdam Records, curator of New York’s Ecstatic Music Series and Latvia’s Ecstatic Music Ventspils, and co-curator of the Apples & Olives festival in Switzerland.
Judd Greenstein plays contemporary classical, classical, chamber music.
Judd Greenstein's live sets are tight and well-rehearsed - mid-paced sets where the arrangements come through clearly.
