Welten
WELTEN is a band based in Leipzig. Their music unfolds in an approached and sensitive listening, an interrelation of individual and collective experience and creativity. In a dialogue of composition and improvisation, the band searches for connections between diverse fragmentary sound forms and narrative threads. In this way, new associative spaces between memories and the unheard continue to develop in their music. Since 2016, the band has released three albums, Live im Laden auf Zeit (2017), Ycatú (2018) and Akureyri (2019), and has played over 130 concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Iceland. These include concerts at Múlin Jazz Club - Harpa - Reykjavik and Mengi - Reykjavik (Iceland / 2018), at Deutschlandfunk Kultur for the Leipziger Buchmesse (2017 and 2018), the UT Connewitz in Leipzig (2019) and at festivals such as Fusion (2019 and 2021), Seanaps (2017), At.tension (2019), Jazz and the City (Salzburg/2019) and Skandalös. The track Ycatú was included in the Spotify playlist State Of Jazz. In May 2022 their fourth album Thaw will be released on the Hamburg-based label Jazzlab.
