The Ligerians
A nostalgic roots reggae artist.
The band’s five musicians founded Soul Nurse Records before working with Rod Anton on the album Reasonin’ (2012), featuring prestigious collaborations with the late Vaughn Benjamin (Akae Beka, Midnite), Max Romeo and The Congos. The album was followed by Wevolution (2014) and Ubatuba (2016), completing a remarkable trilogy showcasing the band’s creativity. The Ligerians later teamed up with Franco-Beninese singer Joe Pilgrim, producing Intuitions (2015) and the EP Step Out (2017). In 2018, they met Chezidek through the Irie Ites label, leading to the release of Timeless (2020). Irie Ites also invited the band to back legendary Jamaican artists on stage and in studio productions, including Eek-A-Mouse, U-Brown, Linval Thompson, Glen Washington and Trinity. From Protoje to Tiken Jah Fakoly, Marcus Gad, Nai-Jah, Alpha Steppa and Laurent “Tippy” Alfred (I Grade Records), The Ligerians have become a major force in today’s Roots Reggae scene. In 2024, they produced Nadia McAnuff’s debut album Shelter from the Storm. Following this release, the band continued its creative journey through collaborations and productions with Christos DC on Sensability, as well as singles with Nai-Jah and Taj Weekes in 2025. In 2026, The Ligerians open a new chapter with the release of their LP Africa My Destiny, recorded alongside the McAnuff Family.
