Alexandra Căpitănescu
A mainstream pop artist.
Alexandra Căpitănescu is Romanian artist, best known for the 3rd place at Eurovision Song Contest 2026 and winning the Voice of Romania in 2023. At just 19 years old, she impressed both the judges and the public with her powerful, versatile voice, turning all four chairs during the blind auditions. In 2024, she followed up with her first EP, also titled “Căpitanu’,” featuring five tracks that further showcased her artistic identity. Toward the end of 2024, Alexandra embarked on a tribute tour dedicated to Laura Stoica. During the same period, she released “Arde,” a reinterpretation inspired by the legendary chorus of Stoica’s hit “Focul.” At the beginning of 2025, Alexandra collaborated with the band VAMA on the single “Fluturi în stomac,” becoming the only contestant and winner from Tudor Chirilă’s team to release a song together with her former coach. During 2025, she released several other songs such as “Stea cazatoare”, “Dilaila” or “Tare”. She represented Romania at Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song “Choke Me”, a metaphor for being overwhelmed by strong emotions and self-expectations. The song reflects a deeply personal struggle with inner fears and pressure — the sense of being “suffocated” by doubt, self-criticism, or the desire for growth and transformation. After Eurovision, she released the song HEAT.
