Emerging on the technical side of D&B, and a member of the innovative community-spirited Evolution Chamber crew, Kenny Dargans’ Ekwols projects is the sum of a life neck-deep in many musical forms and flavours, contributing to the culture in every artistic way he can. In previous equations this Edinburgh engineer has explored myriad disciplines from fronting punk bands to running a music and arts events. An electrical engineer by day and a rootsical turntablist by night, in another alias he boils down reggae, grime and breaks with pure soundsystem spirit. Forever driven by the rapidity of technology, Ekwols’ music matches his mindset: complex and curious but never compromising soul for science. Every release needs to convey a message or feeling that’s experienced through the music and the artwork, which he plays a lead role in. Applying his love for gothic aesthetics, and that strong sense of melancholy that’s tangible in his music, cohesion and consistency is felt in everything Ekwols puts out into the world. This includes his message of complete equality and inclusion in every aspect of life.
