Conductor Raphaël Pichon leads Pygmalion through Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and 20th-century reflections on peace and existence. Tickets on Mood.
Around Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Pygmalion brings together two anniversaries: the signing of the Treaty of Rome in 1957 and the two hundredth anniversary of Beethoven's passing. Conductor Raphaël Pichon presents a transverse program where the EU anthem, with its message of universal love, dialogues with spiritual 20th-century works like Schoenberg's call for peace and Charles Ives' exploration of existence. Funereal colors from Honegger and Stravinsky reflect the original post-war resolve to avoid future conflict.
The performance occurs on March 26, 2027, at the Philharmonie de Paris, located at 221 Av. Jean Jaurès in the 19th arrondissement.
Conductor Raphaël Pichon leads Ensemble Pygmalion, the NFM Choir, and the Orchestre du Conservatoire de Paris.
