Dream Pop-Events dieses Wochenende in San Francisco

Dream pop is a subgenre of alternative rock and neo-psychedelia that emerged in the mid-1980s, primarily in the United Kingdom through the work of artists like Cocteau Twins and A.R. Kane. The genre is characterized by a heavy reliance on sonic textures, utilizing lush, reverb-drenched guitars, shimmering synthesizers, and breathy, ethereal vocals that often blend into the instrumental background. Rhythmically, it favors mid-tempo or slow-paced arrangements with a focus on atmosphere and immersion rather than percussive intensity, creating a mood that is introspective, hazy, and melancholic. While it shares the dense wall-of-sound aesthetic with shoegaze, dream pop maintains a softer, more melodic focus, bridging the gap between traditional pop structures and avant-garde ambient soundscapes.
